about
KOHLER PureWash M350 is a manual bidet seat designed to bring water cleansing to existing toilets without electricity.
Because the system is purely mechanical, users must understand the control icons and interaction immediately.

DESIGN CHALLENGE
Manual bidet seats remove the complexity of electronics, but they introduce a different usability challenge.
Without screens, prompts, or digital feedback, the entire interaction depends on intuitive physical controls and clear iconography.
For first-time users, the experience often breaks at three points:
Understanding what each control does
Knowing how the body should be positioned
Interpreting unfamiliar cleansing functions
This project explored how physical ergonomics and interaction clarity could be aligned to make the product immediately understandable.
IMPACT
Improved control clarity, usability across user sizes, and interaction comprehension.
